Orange to offer paid-for super smartphone support service
Saturday February 27, 2010
The topic, y’see, is Orange customer support, who, according to IntoMobile, have set up a new, paid support service for smartphone users.
Now, obviously, it’s not compulsory, and one can still opt to have just the standard, free Orange Customer service (which is no bad thing, because every time I’ve rung them, they’ve been brilliant), but for people who do stump up the cash to get the new super-duper service, you’d get a dedicated hotline to call, and staff who can resolve any of your smartphone issues, such as email setup, synchronisation, or connecting accessories.
Oh, and they will also use remote access to your phone, to remotely get inside it, and set it up for you. Which is really rather clever.
You’ll be able to get access to the new super, whizzy premium support service either through a dedicated Orange Care package, or on a ‘per call’ basis, and although there’s specifics on the service going live over here in Blighty, or on how much it’ll cost, I’m sure details will be forthcoming soon. Of course, it’s tempting to wonder why Orange have decided to launch this service, but I find myself drawn back to the fact they were announced as one of the two key network partners for Windows Phone 7 Series. And 7 Series is aimed at a market who might be a bit less au fait with smartphones than you average, old school WinMo user.
Or, y’know, first time smartphone-buyers, who’ve gone for the Orange-exclusive Motorola DEXT, and who then can’t figure out how Android works, underneath the MOTOBLUR front end.
